Event Branding
The initial design exploration focused on a few visual territories: One territory was focused on using our brand font (at the time), Avenir Next, in a way that would help to distinguish this event from our other consumer-facing activations. Another territory was leaning into the Snap Inc. brand of a simple use of Adobe Calson Pro - making it a visual extension of the parent company brand. The third territory was leaning into the idea of visually communicating the idea of community, collaboration, and partnership through the use of circular elements (which also references the Snapchat camera’s capture icon.
The exploration narrowed to two directions:
Once the direction was chosen, we continued to iterate on the final lockup:
Where we landed with the final logo was a simple extension of the Snap Inc. brand encased in a circle to signify community and partnership.
We the collaborated with creatives from across the company to create their own ‘partner’ execution to allow the logo to truly embody the spirit of creative partnership.
We then took these beautiful ‘Partner’ executions and made an animation to use be used before/after the keynote on holding screens.
Event Materials
I worked to create a few of the key touchpoints for attendees such as the save-the-date, the website to RSVP, as well as the badge – which a delightful augmented reality surprise available on the Snapchat camera. The mesh motif used across these materials references the augmented reality ‘smart layer’ that the Snapchat camera layers onto the world to know how to surface contextual experiences.
Keynote Presentation
The pinnacle of the event was a keynote address from Evan, Bobby, and a few other members of the Snap team. This presentation was the hard work (and I mean HARD WORK) of the entire Marketing department and I was fortunate enough to be a key team member in bringing it to life. As a Sr. Designer, I worked on the core team that was interfacing with our external creative partners, helped establish the overall look/feel of the presentation, and - through a series of events - ended up building the actual presentation file along with another talented team member, Nick Chiodo.
